Scary Stuff

Dear friends,

We need your prayers. This weekend we announced from the stage at IHC that Dave was responding great to the second round of chemo, which was a blessing. However, everyday is different and brings a new battle. After pumping five different chemos into his body this last week, Dave started spiking a high fever of 103 yesterday. They are trying to control it with Tylenol and other cooling measures right now, but have not yet identified the source. Shortly after the fever started, he also started experiencing difficulty speaking, standing and walking, as well as confusion and some memory loss. These are probably all side effects of the chemotherapy and more than likely temporary, but still very scary and miserable for him to experience.

They did a CT scan yesterday and now also getting an MRI to rule out anything more serious or permanent. I know it’s crazy, but the picture attached to this message was taken on the trip downstairs to radiology for the CT scan. That’s what happens when you have a 19-year-old with a cell phone along with you. Ha.
We are reaching out to you to ask for your prayers because we believe in the power of prayer to make a difference. Please pray that God will cradle Dave in His big hands of grace and mercy and strength and healing. Please pray that these difficult side effects subside quickly. Please pray for peace of mind and gentle sleep tonight.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my Savior; my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield and the strength of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2

Thank you that we can reach out to you in this scary time for your prayer support. We appreciate you.

Resting in God’s sustaining grace,
Carol
