Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16
Every day is a new adventure in life. Every day offers opportunities to grow. Every day brings challenges to overcome. For our family. And for you and your family. None of us are immune to the ups and downs of life. So what are we going to do with all those adventures, opportunities, and challenges? Are we going to ignore them or hide from them or maybe even try to run from them? Or are we going to look straight at them and do what needs to be done to grow and overcome and even celebrate? We choose perseverance that leads to hope and true joy.
We have been home for over a week now and every day Dave is getting a little stronger and a little fatter. Ha! Something we are learning is that getting better and stronger takes patience. It’s a day-by-day thing. It doesn’t happen overnight and sometimes that really stinks. We want to be better now! But patience, diligence, and hard work over the long haul are required. We continue to be committed to the long haul, and we are doing everything we can each day.
Good News: At our appointment this week with Dr. Lopez, we learned that all of the numbers in Dave’s bloodwork are really great. Yeah! Also, the concerns they have had with his liver due to damage caused by the leukemia have all resolved! Thank you God!
Prayer Concern: We ask for your prayers for relief from nerve damage in Dave’s feet caused by the chemo. Along with the pain that we are trying to manage, Dave said his feet feel like he is trying to walk on two big bricks. And please pray that he stays free from any illness and infections.
Can We Borrow: Our doctor suggested in addition to our daily walks, that Dave do some work on a stationary bike. We were wondering if anyone has one that we could borrow for a few months?
The Plan: The target date for when we will be headed back to Cedars for the stem cell transplant is at the end of March. We’ll have to be flexible because a lot of different things need to line up, but that’s what they’re shooting for.
Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and support that we are feeling from all of you!
